Introducing Radio Exurbia
Radio Exurbia & And the Vertical Slice
We're super excited to share the first look at Radio Exurbia, a driving exploration game about uniting disparate communities. Players swap between urban and rural realities to solve environmental puzzles and discover why everyone seems to be missing...
After a summer of ideation and a month of rapid prototyping, we arrived at our first playable or vertical slice. While it may not look like a traditional vertical slice (we have a beautiful corner to establish art direction but no more than that), this demo represents answers to a lot of early design questions. How do we structure a reality-swapping mechanic? How do we communicate its use to players? How do players react when asked to drive and also solve puzzles? Does this car controller feel good to use? How does giving a car a hat make people feel?! By answering these questions (and literally dozens more) we were way more confident when entering full production than we would have been otherwise.
Check out the demo below, and stay tuned for future updates!
